CARTER & CRADDOCK

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO — An all-star Texas boys' team, including the likes of hurdler Robert Griffin, sprinters Rynell Parson and Mychal Dungey, quarter-miler Danzell Fortson, and many other talented youths from the lone star state, clinched a post-high school meet team title on the University of New Mexico campus, Thursday through Saturday, May 31 - June 2.
Scoring 18 points for team Texas, Chris Carter of Hearne and Omar Craddock of Killeen swept the boys triple jump.
Overcoming a bruised heel after his first jump, Carter, who is ranked No. 3 in the United States (51-feet-2 ½) and headed to the University of Houston in the fall, positioned himself in the finals with a three-step, short approach jump in the 42-foot range, before ultimately posting a mark of 47-feet-7 — good for eight points and a silver medal.
Craddock, a sophomore, jumped into action with six marks exceeding his personal best of 48-feet-1 ½, established in the intermediate boys triple jump during the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, Virginia, last summer. He finished the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic with a best mark of 49-feet-9, to claim 10 points and gold for Team Texas.
