JOHNNY CARTER

WALNUT, CALIFORNIA — Team R.A.W. (Ready and Willing) horizontalist Johnny Carter posted one of the leading youth division triple jumps in the nation at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Games in July.

Before his summer finale at USATF, Carter, while still 13 years old, bounded over the 40-foot barrier, covering a distance of 40-feet-1 in May.

A month later, the young jumper, who doubles as a 100-meter sprinter, improved his mark from the previous month by 1¼ inches, notching an effort of 40-feet-2¼ and outdistancing his nearest competitor by more than two feet. Carter’s personal best performance, however, materialized in the finals of the youth division triple jump, where he finished with a bronze medal, upping his PR to 41-7¼.
