GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA — Ranked No.2 nationally in the high school girls' high jump, Brittani Carter, seen above in a familial embrace during a break from the Nike Outdoor National Track and Field Championships, remained No.1 in the heart of her most adoring fan — mom, who celebrated her birthday Texas-style, with a budding money bloom.

A graduating senior from Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas, Carter tied at fourth position with Priscilla Frederick of Sicklerville, New Jersey, clearing a height of 5-feet-7 in the high jump competition.
